Alexander Technique for Bodyworkers
Live & Practice Pain Free
Saturday, August 23 2008, from 10:00 AM till 5:30 PM. Crystal Mountain School of Therapeutic Massage, Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Michael will lead this workshop which is being offered through the school's Continuing Education Department.
The cost for this 6 CE Hours workshop is $ 175.00.
With more than 75% of experienced massage therapists and other body-workers reporting some form of pain or discomfort due to the demands of their work, the average career span for body-workers is five years. In fact, many practitioners unwittingly sacrifice the longevity of their careers because of excess tension and misuse of their own bodies while working on their clients.
With the principles of the Alexander Technique, participants will learn to identify and prevent harmful movement and postural habits that cause conditions such as chronic pain, unnecessary muscular tension/strain and stress. Practitioners will learn to: restore efficiency and effortlessness of movement in everyday activities; use their body at the massage table with ease and freedom; improve the quality of hands-on work they provide the client; learn to identify the underlying causes of symptoms for which their clients seek treatment. This is an experiential, hands-on class.
